Gliderol Singapore began by securing an exclusive licence for the manufacture and sale of Gliderol International Pty Ltd's door products in Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei, before developing its own proprietary range of fire-rated, blast-resistant and industrial door systems. Their fire shutter development program saw models successfully tested and listed as approved regulated products in Singapore, before achieving UL (Underwriters Laboratories) listing — making them the only Singapore manufacturer capable of offering both UL and FM listed fire shutters for overseas projects.

The blast shutter development program was completed in consultation with ABS Consulting Group in Texas, USA, using finite element analysis (FEA) to design the door system and validate it with a full-scale shock tube test. The result: a blast-resistant shutter rated to two performance levels — PL1 (75 kPa peak pressure, 1,050 kPa-ms impulse) and PL2 (40 kPa peak pressure, 500 kPa-ms impulse). Gliderol Singapore listed on the SGX Catalist exchange in 2013, and today operates a 7,797 sqm manufacturing facility in Singapore with a subsidiary in the UAE.

Independently Tested Fire and Blast Performance Why

Gliderol Singapore is the only Singapore manufacturer which can offer UL and FM listed fire shutters typically required for overseas projects. Model FRSC — their Non-Insulated Fire Shutter — with a tested capability of 240 minutes fire integrity, conforms to Singapore, UK, American, Australian and Malaysian standards and is FM-approved. The insulated fire shutter IFS-4G was tested to BS EN 1634-1 standard and achieved 4 hours of fire insulation and 4 hours of fire integrity — exceptional performance for the most demanding applications.

Blast Resistance Engineered to Defence Industry

Gliderol's blast shutters use a design approach that allows the shutter curtain to plastically deform under blast pressure, progressively arresting moving components — which are connected by horizontal steel connector rods attached to vertical wire ropes to prevent them from becoming debris. This approach — developed with US blast engineering consultants using FEA validation — means Australian operators in defence, infrastructure and oil and gas industries can specify Gliderol blast shutters with full confidence in the documented performance levels.
