Gliderol Insulated Fire Shutter (IFS-4G)

The Gliderol IFS-4G is a 4-hour fire insulation and 4-hour fire integrity roller shutter — the insulated fire shutter in the Gliderol range, tested to BS EN 1634-1 and achieving the dual performance of limiting heat transmission through the shutter during fire conditions (fire insulation) in addition to preventing the passage of flames and hot gases (fire integrity). The IFS-4G achieves both for four hours — a genuinely exceptional fire performance for a roller shutter format.

The distinction between fire integrity and fire insulation is critical to understanding the IFS-4G’s value. A standard fire shutter achieves fire integrity — it prevents flames and hot gases from passing through for the rated period. But if the shutter itself becomes intensely hot due to radiated and conducted heat from the fire side, it becomes a radiant heat source that can ignite combustible materials on the protected side even without flame passage. Fire insulation — limiting the temperature rise on the protected face of the shutter — addresses this second failure mode. The IFS-4G achieves both.
