What Is the HFI RC4?
The HFI RC4 is the highest Resistance Class sectional overhead door in the Hold Fast Industries range — EN 1627-1630 RC4 certified, providing independently tested resistance against an experienced attacker equipped with power tools including drills, jigsaws and angle grinders. RC4 is the appropriate specification for high-value storage, defence and government facilities, critical infrastructure buildings, pharmaceutical and currency storage, and any application where the threat of a determined attack with power tools is a design criterion.
RC4 certification requires that the door withstand not just a second set of hand tools (RC3) but the additional application of powered cutting and drilling equipment for the defined test period. The panel, frame, locking hardware and all structural connections must pass the test as an assembled, installed system. This is a physically demanding standard — very few sectional overhead doors achieve RC4 certification, and those that do represent a fundamentally different level of engineered security.
